Do you have a lease or several leases for office space? Are you concerned about the economic environment? Do you believe we are at the precipice of a paradigm shift in the way business works? If so, listen-up. Just like the auto industry, we've had the tools to work smarter and more cost effectively, but we haven't used them. Ever hear of hoteling or telecommuting? That right! Stuff we should have been doing when Detroit should have been making smaller, more fuel efficient cars.

If anyone out there has been doing it, please let me hear from you. You deserve the savings you've been experiencing. Hoteling is where transient employees share a pool of desks or offices. When they arrive at the office they select (or are assigned) a vacant desk to use while they are in. Typically, sales and service companies have employees that are on the road the majority of the time. What a waste it is to have those desks unoccupied. Telecommuting is where employees simply work from home, their car, Starbucks or wherever they find themselves. Brilliant and it saves lots of money.
